About
The Platanus genus covers several tree species native to the Northern Hemisphere. They are commonly known as plane trees. Diseases that affect this genus include plane anthracnose (Apiognomonia veneta), a fungal disease that can defoliate the trees, Ceratocystis platani, a wilt disease which has become a serious problem in much of Europe, and powdery mildew, which occurs frequently. The larvae of some Lepidoptera species feed on plane trees.
